Applique Travel Kit -- the scissors

Next month I will be traveling again. Now is the time to start thinking about how I can improve my applique travel supply kit. I love my Dovo scissors, but I would never risk losing this treasure by packing them in my checked bag and they are too long to qualify as carry-on scissors. I will pack my Ghinger sharp-pointed scissors in the checked bag, and carry on my little 2 and 3/4 inch scissors (identified only as "Stainless, Pakistan"). They are very sharp and are great for snipping along curved edges and into inner points, BUT have you ever tried cutting a quarter yard of fabric with a 3/4 inch blade? They are great for snipping thread and reducing the turn-under edge a little at a time, so I must have pre-cut fabric templates ready to applique before I ever leave home. To be on the safe side, I will stash a 3rd pair of scissors in my husband's suitcase (a very sharp pair of Fiskars bought at JoAnn's as I was passing through Oswego last July when my one pair of scissors went missing).
