Glimpse #67, Lofoten Islands

 

Everywhere we went, we saw extraordinarily fat animals. This cow agreed to be my example. She is so fat, that (like other cows in the region) when she stands, her bag touches the ground. Farmers in the area have had to devise slings to keep them from scraping on the ground and also, to keep the cows from stepping on them. The reason the animals are so fat? They have sunshine 24 hours a day, and don't know when to stop eating. (Not all houses look like this. This is the Viking Museum.)
