Ellen Heck -- Applique Artist and Her Masterpiece, "Baltimore in the Provence"

It isn't often that we have the opportunity to see absolute perfection in applique work.
This one-of-a-kind quilt depicts scenes from Provence.
This loved and well-respected artist/teacher has brought me to tears with the intricate beauty of this quilt.
Thank you, Ellen, for this wonderful applique quilt inspiration!

That is a beautiful quilt, so delicate looking. A different feel than most BA quilts. Thanks Margaret for taking the time to get permission to post this.

....from Ellen Heck

Margaret, I am very happy you included my quilt on your blog and also how you feel about me, though I am just like any other quilter
who shares the joy of applique and even gets rewarded for it.

I went to the quilt show yesterday and when I saw all these wonderful quilt with good workmanship I knew how lucky I was to get this ‘’Masterpiece Award’’ it was more than I had expected. It is nice that we can all be encouraged by other quilters who share the love
for applique.

Thank you Margaret for including me and write a me a note, very much appreciated,

Ellen

Thank you, Ellen, for your contribution to the applique world.

OMG...this is the most wonderful applique, it looks more like a painting than a quilt....I hope we see this one in Houston this year.
