Travel Considerations--Baggage Tags

Have you noticed a lot of the bags look alike now? I have friends who spend hours shopping for striped bags, purple bags, anything different from the ordinary. I have other friends (and I have done this myself) who create an obnoxious ribbon or yarn flower which blooms on top of the bag. I found a way to make our bags easily identifiable. It worked very well on the last trip, so I plan to do it again. The two young men giving us assistance were quite excited at being able to find the bags rather quickly.

Type out the following:
(Departure)

NAME
NAME OF ARRIVAL AIRPORT
NAME OF SHIP / DATE OF SAILING
CABIN NUMBER
Cell Phone number

(Return)

NAME
NAME OF RETURN AIRPORT
AIRLINE AND FLIGHT(S)
Cell phone number

I will be making two sets of baggage tags (one for departure, one for return). Type the information in very large, bold print on white background. Place trimmed information on a brightly colored background (construction paper). Finished size should be large and obnoxious (6" X 10"). If you do not have a laminating machine, take it to Staples to get it laminated. Punch a hole in one corner, add heavy string doubled for strength, and tie well to handle on top of the bag. When you arrive at your final destination, take off the old tags and put on the new ones. Don't forget to make a smaller version for the carry on bag. The porters always feel very smart, saying, "I found your bag, Mrs. Smith" (after looking at your name on the tag), then quickly locating your name on the limo driver's card when you exit customs. ("I see your driver, Mrs. Smith!")

BOTTOM LINE: Do not type your home address and home telephone number on the baggage tags. If you need to be called, you have given them the number of the cell phone that you brought with you.
