Snowflakes With a Message

One of the ladies at our Applique Retreat has a unique specialty. Mary Moss does applique work using snowflake patterns which she designs. What makes them so special is that each snowflake spells a word, usually a person's name.

This is a snowflake design table mat which Mary made for the table mat challenge. All of the challenge table mats were donated to Camp Wightman to use as decorations on each of the dining tables.

Mary, seated, shows some of the ladies her technique for designing the snowflake patterns. If you would like to know more about this technique, please let me know, and I will put you in touch with Mary.

The first person to identify the name on Mary's challenge table mat by leaving a comment with the correct answer will win a small prize from me(TBA). (Ladies attending the Applique Retreat and employees of Camp Wightman cannot participate.)

Just in case I'm right...just to let you know, my email is down at the moment. I hope to talk to someone tomorrow who can help. Hopefully it will be up and running tomorrow, but give me a little time to respond if you send me an email. Thx!

Margaret, esta técnica está muy muy bonita, me gusta mucho. Y veo que se pueden hacer muchos diseños. Felicitaciones para María, me encantaría que ella pudiera hacer un tutorial en su blog explicando cómo se hace. Un beso

Thanks to everyone who commented!

Quilter Laura is right! The name spelled out is "Jesus". The table mats were made to be used at a Christian camp, so that is why Mary used that name for her snowflake. I will be sending Laura her "prize" soon. The answer was not easy to see, as the letters became smaller in the center of the snowflake.

Maritza, I will see if Mary is willing to team up with me to present a tutorial on the snowflake technique.

Helen, I will be sending your message on to Mary.

Helen, there seemed to be a problem with your link. Both Mary and I tried to contact you without success. We will try to post a tutorial on making the snowflakes for all who are interested.
