Mary Simon Treasure

My friend, Nancy Kerns, has just finished this wonderful appliqued quilt. Many years of dedicated time go into the applique work and quilting of a large quilt like this (the finished size is in excess of 100 inches square). The original Mary Simon quilt did not have a border. Nancy designed this border herself. She has given me permission to share the quilt with you. (If you click on the photo, it will enlarge. Click one more time for an even closer view.)

All I can say is "heavens to Betsy" and just magnificent, outstanding and wonderful, Nancy! You can be very proud! A tremendous amount of hours went into this and it shows. Did you keep a journal?

an incredible work of art. A masterpiece! The quilt is just beautiful, a true labor of love. Nancy is an incredible appliquer and I was lucky enough to see some of the blocks in person over the years, I hope to see the finished quilt someday. The border just adds so much to the quilt.
thanks for sharing the picture with us.
